About Marcie
Marcie Shaw is a New York City-based actor who was a member of the original Broadway cast of Les Miserables. She understudied and performed many times as Mme Thenardier, in addition to creating multiple roles in the ensemble, and features on the Grammy Award winning original Broadway cast recording.
In the original Broadway cast of The Pirates of Penzance, Marcie played the featured role of Kate, and later the principal role of Edith, after originating Kate in the Central Park Delacorte production and live video recording. She subsequently returned to the Delacorte and the Public Theater for three further productions.
The New York Times declared, "...she unleashes a typhoon of a voice" praising Marcie’s performance as Baby Rose in the Goodspeed Opera House production of Babes in Arms. Marcie was directed by co-creator and original cast member Debra Monk in Pump Boys and Dinettes, appearing at three regional theaters including the flagship production at Chicago's Apollo Theater.
Marcie has performed with luminaries including Linda Ronstadt, Kevin Kline, Len Cariou, Carol Lawrence, Treat Williams, Estelle Parsons, George Rose, Robbie Benson, Maureen McGovern and Kaye Ballard. She has also worked with Trevor Nunn, John Caird, James Lapine, Robert Falls, Stephen Flaherty & Lynn Ahrens, Graciela Daniele, Marc Shaiman and Peter Martins; and has appeared at prestigious venues throughout the country including the Delacorte, the Public, the Kennedy Center, Goodspeed, the Muny, the King Cole Room, David Mamet's St. Nicholas Theater, as well as on Saturday Night Live.
